Kieran McGee

Consultant Archaeology & Heritage

Kieran joined Curio Projects as a Consultant Archaeologist in 2025, while completing his PhD at the University of Sydney. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Arts (Honours I) and Science.

His PhD is a collaboration with the Mithaka People on their traditional lands, the National Heritage-Listed Mithaka Cultural Landscape. Using advanced drone and 3D scanning techniques, his research records and interprets the extensive quarrying and tool production practices of Mithaka ancestors. Kieran has also undertaken fieldwork on a Tasmanian convict site and collaborated with the Australian Museum and the University of Sydney’s Plant Breeding Institute, exploring how cultural heritage knowledge can inform the modern use of native Australian grains.

Kieran brings a broad research skillset spanning archaeological field techniques, GIS mapping, statistical and artefact analysis, 3D scanning, community consultation, and complex project management. His work has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and presented at academic conferences.
